BRENT MUSBURGER TO SPEAK AT 2015 GODADDY BOWL MAYOR’S LUNCHEON

Mobile, Ala. – (Nov. 8, 2015) Bowl officials announced today that ESPN and ABC television networks sportscaster, Brent Musburger, will speak at the GoDaddy Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at noon at the Mobile Convention Center.

Musburger, one of the most well-known sportscasters in television, covers multiple sports on ESPN and SEC networks as the host and play-by-play commentator, and mainly focuses on college basketball and football.

Musburger joined ABC in 1990 after 15 years as CBS Sports’ primary host and play-by-play commentator, appearing on The NFL Today, the NCAA Final Four, tennis’s U.S. Open and the Masters.

For both ABC and ESPN, Musburger has hosted and called play-by-play for the NBA, college football and basketball and golf. He also covered the 2006 FIFA World Cup and hosted Super Bowl XXV’s pre-game and half-time shows. Musburger voiced Saturday Night Football on ABC from 2006-2013. It was the first and only weekly primetime college football series on broadcast television when it originated in 2006.

In addition, Musburger hosted NASCAR Nextel Cup races on ESPN and ABC, including all 10 season-ending “Chase for the Cup” events during the 2007 season. In 1992, Musburger began his stint on ESPN Radio, serving as the original host of its daily ESPN SportsBeat segments and has called NBA play-by-play, including the NBA Finals.

In 2011, Musburger received the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Outstanding Contributor Award, and was also named to the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame.

Musburger’s joined the Chicago American after attending Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. His broadcast career began in 1968 as sports director at WBBM-TV in Chicago.

Musburger is a Billings, Mont. native and is married with two children.

The GoDaddy Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at noon, at the Mobile Convention Center. Individual tickets for this event are $30, and tables of ten are $300.
