Auburn Head Basketball Coach To Speak At 1st & 10 Club

Mobile, Ala., (Sept. 13, 2015) – Bruce Pearl, Auburn University Head Basketball Coach will speak at the New Horizons Credit Union 1st and 10 Club on Monday, Sept. 14 at the Mobile Marriott in Mobile, AL beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Pearl is entering his second season at Auburn, and led them a semi-finals appearance in the 2015 SEC Tournament last season. Senior KT Harrell finished the year as the league’s leading scorer with 18.5 points per game. Over the course of 17 home games, the Tigers drew 133,033 total fans into Auburn Arena, the third-best attendance in school history.

Prior to Auburn, Pearl spent seven seasons as head coach at Tennessee, leading the Volunteers to the 20-win mark five times. During his tenure, Tennessee was the SEC’s winningest program, including winning the 2008 SEC regular season title and earning the school’s first-ever No. 1 national ranking. Pearl took the program to six straight NCAA Tournament appearances, consisting of two Sweet Sixteen appearances and an Elite Eight appearance in 2010.

He began his head coaching career with a nine-year stay at Southern Indiana, taking the program to the NCAA Tournament each season, going 231-46 (.834) from 1992-2001. From there he made the move to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, taking the Panthers to the NIT once and the NCAA Tournament twice, including a 2005 Sweet 16 appearance.

Pearl has garnered six National Coach of the Year awards and was named SEC coach of the year in 2006 and 2008. He is also one
of seven active head coaches who have led their teams to 10 NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances.

A native of Boston, Mass., Pearl received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boston College in 1982, graduating cum laude. He has two daughters, two sons, and is married to the former Brandy Miller.
