Hoar Construction and GoDaddy.com Bowl Choose Reading and Writing Contest Finalist

(MOBILE, Ala.) – The tenth annual HOAR Construction/GoDaddy.com Bowl Reading and Writing Program announced its 10 finalist November 30th at the Mobile Civic Center Theater. Finalist were presented with savings bonds in front of a large audience including an invited 2,000 local fourth graders.

Fifth grade students in the state of Alabama, the Gulf Coast regions of Florida and Mississippi began entering the contest in September. They were required to read a book and submit a written book report in 250 words or less. Mobile County School Board representative Ken Megginson, Miss Twila Tschan, Oregon’s Junior Miss 2008 and representative of the Distinguished Young Women, formerly America’s Junior Miss, Mike Lanier with Hoar Construction, and GoDaddy.com Bowl president Jerry Silverstein were all present for the awards.

Apart from meeting exciting guests at the ceremony and receiving savings bonds the 10 finalists were invited to attend the events taking place during GoDaddy.com Bowl Week. Events include the GoDaddy.com Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon and the GoDaddy.com Bowl game.

Savings bonds were awarded to the 10 finalists in amounts ranging from $500 to $10,000:

Over the past nine years, the Hoar Construction/GoDaddy.com Bowl Reading and Writing Program has donated over $205,000 in savings bonds to students in the fifth grade.

The GoDaddy.com Bowl will be played on January 6, 2011, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, and will be televised nationally on ESPN at 7:00 pm.
